RULES -2008
1. Ball in footprint in sand. Play as opponent
and you agree on at time of match. Lost ball (no penalty in the fairway). Drop
ball in area where lost. Lost ball in woods; straight back on line of flight
from edge of woods from point of entry or re-hit from tee. ONE STROKE
PENALTY
2. Unnatural hazards, move ball one club length from
all signs, hoses, benches, roadways, newly seeded areas, sprinklers, staked
trees, etc. NO PENALTY
3. Casual water in fairways, traps, etc., is not
a natural hazard. Ball may be removed from the water and placed in a dry spot
not closer to the hole. NO PENALTY
4. Ball hits ball (on green only). If your ball
hits and moves an opponent's ball, the opponent must place his ball as near as
possible to the spot from which it was moved.
5. A ball lying on the wrong green must be
lifted and dropped off the green as near as possible to where the ball lay, but
NOT nearer the hole. NO PENALTY
6. A match must be played on the scheduled date.
An absent player must make his own arrangements to get a sub (see sub list). An
absent player without a sub automatically forfeits 3 of his team's possible 7
points. Each team must have 2 regular members present each week. Only 2 subs
per team if necessary, otherwise, loss of all 7 points. See rule #23 for subs and their handicaps.
7. Any ball that crosses certain bodies of water
on the Blue course and lands on the other side will be assessed one stroke
penalty. Ball will be dropped on line of flight from point of entry where ball
crossed the water. This rule applies on holes 3, 5, 7, 8, 9.
8. Ball unplayable against a fence or boundary
line - 2 club lengths allowed. ONE PENALTY STROKE
9. Rain-outs or postponements will be decided at
the golf course at tee times. Friday is golf day and all golfers must report to
the course on all scheduled Fridays.
10. If
weather postpones an entire round on any Friday, the entire match will be
cancelled and forgotten. The league will play the next scheduled match on the
following Friday. In order for a round to count, all foursomes must finish the
round..
11. No
one will tee off before 2:45. Penalty for early tee time will result in a
double forfeit (no points). Only one foursome can be on the tee. All other
golfers will please line up outside the tee areas. No one is to get into the
bag line until all four players are present and ready to enter the bag line.
Parking lot and clubhouse are not considered as a part of the bag line. Penalty
for a violation of the bag line rule (lining up without foursome) will result
in that party and the party behind the violators (who don't call them down on
this rule) in moving their foursome to the back of the existing line.3:55 is
forfeit time if opponents are not in the TEE AREA.
12. Low
handicap player is always No. I man on the team and always plays No. 1
opponent. No. 2 plays against No. 2 etc. In case of a tie between two golfers
on the same team the captain will assign one player to one level and the other
player to the other. In cases where both teams have ties the captains should
mutually agree to which player is playing against whom and what number they
are. If the two captains cannot come up with an agreement then the team captain
of the team with the lowest team standing in the league will make the decision
before entering the tee area, and this will be final.
13.
This years handicap will be based on 100% handicap of actual scores. During the
first three weeks of golfing, your handicap can be lowered but never raised
higher than your seasons starting handicap. After the first three weeks, your
handicap can only go down and never up. Then it will be your lowest 3 rounds
that determine your handicap. Par for 9 holes is 36. If the lowest 3 nine hole
scores are 47, 48, 45 your total score is 140. Subtracting par for 27 holes
(108) leaves 32. Dividing 32 by 3 you get 10.2, which results in a final
handicap of 10 for nine holes.
14.
Scoring: Four(4)points-one for each
individual match.
Three (3) points-medal (as per
score sheet)
Every
team must turn in both cards. No points will be given for cards not turned in.
Four (4) points will be lost for cards not turned in and neither team will get
the four(4) points. ALL CAPTAINS PLEASE MAKE SURE BOTH CARDS ARE TURNED IN.
15. The
championship cannot be won on a forfeit. The champs must play on the last night
and post a score to win. In the event of a single of double forfeit, the team
present and highest in the standing will be declared the champs. In case of
emergency or injury the player can be given a substitute in the following
manner. A list of golfers with close to
the same average will be compiled from the sub list and from league players not
involved in the championship. A name
will be drawn from that list.
16. No
practice rounds may be played on the same nine that we will use that same day.
A violation of this rule will result in a forfeit of your match. (Keep your
schedule in your bag)
17.
Anything not covered by the rules will be settled by a majority vote of the
team captains. If your team needs a vote, get all captains together for the
voting.
18.
Championship playoff. If a tie occurs on the last night, there will be a two
(2)hole playoff on the same nine starting with hole one (1) as soon as the tee
is open that day. This will be a head to
head match play only (4 points possible). In case of a tie after two holes,
play will continue until the tic is broken. Handicap for that day will be used.
No handicap adjustments will be made prior to the playoff.
19.
Members may be asked to leave the league if they miss two matches without
getting a sub.
20. You
must live with anything that you concede to your opponent.
21. In
match play, your opponent always controls your ball. Please talk to him.
22. We
will roll the ball this year (maximum 6” in any direction, but not closer to
the green). The 6” rule applies even if
it improves your line.
23.
When arranging for a sub, all subs must be from the approved sub list. If all
names have been attempted without success, and a sub is used who is not on the
list; no one on that team may tee off until there is agreement on his handicap
and position placement. Approval for
placement must be given by the opponent or league president. However no sub
without an established league handicap may score better than a 39 net on his
first time in league play. This will be calculated by subtracting 36 from his
actual score and adding a -3. That will become his new handicap.
Rule 23 Amendment – Rule 23 was intended as a “non-ringer” rule
for substitutes used during the season.
It is now being expanded to
include new regular members that start the league without a verifiable
handicap.
Round 1 proceeds as stated in rule 23 and establishes a handicap
for round 1 and round 2.
After the 2nd round the handicap is recalculated by
normal methods, based on round 1 and 2.
After round 3 the handicap is recalculated by normal methods and
sets that players maximum players handicap.
Normal method means the players handicap can only go lower (or stay the
same) from that point forward.
24.
Ready golf. This year we will play ready golf in an attempt to speed up each
round. Players should hit when ready
until all are on the green and within 20 feet of the hole. Please use caution
to not block or interfere with another's shot. Once on the green a putter may
choose to finish if he likes.
25.
Absent Opponent - When a team has an absent player, the absent player's
opponent must win his match by beating a phantom player with a net of 40. The
phantom player will take bogeys on the 4 highest handicapped holes and pars on the
remaining 5 holes.
26. Marking ball on the green. Marker is to be placed generously behind the ball. Not in front of, or under, or alongside the ball.
27. Handicap determination. Players will only be allowed (X) number of strokes over par per hole to determine their handicap. This number(X) will be based on their current handicap as follows:
Handicap Max Over Par Per Hole(X)
-------- ------------------------
0 - 4 2
5 - 10 3
11 - up 4
Team captains will be responsible for recording an "adjusted" gross score on score sheets.
